Webster - Log 14- We catch a fish!

Wednesday 4th: 0730 position 26 25'N 28 34'W. Winds becoming very light again early morning and engine had to go on about 0700 and dropped spinnaker. But it returned at 0900 and managed to sail a bit thereafter, just not very fast at the moment which is becoming increasingly frustrating. Have to remember this is a marathon not a sprint so have to be patient. The wind is supposed to come in after the weekend according to a wider forecast heard today on SSB, but that is what we were told last week too......

Around 1200 Jeremy was checking our fishing line and was convinced there was something there. After a week or so of trailing a line we were sceptical to say the least but no, a fish there was, a Dorado of approx 2Kg, a beautifully coloured fish against he background of the blue water. So, fish for lunch! Jerry reeled it in, I gaffed it and pulled it on board, Albert hit it with a torch, Carl followed up with a winch handle - blood everywhere, I chopped its head off and gutted the thing, Albert cut it into steaks, Carl fried it and we ate it with salad, all within half an hour! Very good it was too. Good team building stuff.

So:

We today caught a fish, a Dorado
Which we despatched on the deck with bravado,
Albert cut it to bits
Then Carl fried it with frites,
and we ate it together al fresco!

We have a sweepstake going as to which day am or pm we arrive in St Lucia. The least optimistic is Jerry with the 16th am, but I fear at this rate he could walk away with the chocolates, well the rum anyway. The winds just remain light and have done all day so far and now all night too. We have kept the kite up all night and barely making 5 knts.

Spirits still high on board and all are well, even after our extra hot chilli this evening.
