Webster - Log 9 - Rain and song writing

Friday 29th: Started the day with downloading the wider gribs to look at the weather further afield. Still need to proceed south and variable weather to be expected en route. No gales in our bit thankfully.

Carrying on with a 220 course just in case we need to tuck into Verdes which is looking increasingly likely the more fuel we use in flat spots.

1000 saw it start to rain and in varying degrees rained all day. Must have effected SSB reception as all we heard was interference which was a shame as wanted to glean other boats' intentions.

Wind dropped to nothing again and engine on at 1400 but because it was raining hard we went below having set a waypoint at Sao Vincent on 190. However, some two hours or so motoring later we discovered we were actually steering 270! The boat clearly wants to go to St Lucia not Verdes, and so do we.......

Reminds us of another well known old song, all together now:

Show us the way to Rodney Bay
We're tired and want to go get ahead;
We had a little wind two days ago
but we're going nowhere instead;
No where matter where we stray;
to North or South we say
You will always hear us singing this song
Show us the way to Rodney Bay.

.....to be continued (you have been warned!)
