George - Day 4 aboard....

Day 4 evening of 27th Nov
We have been beating into wind for 12 hours no with no sign of the wind changing. I seem to have missed the seminar for "How to sail up wind?" After yesterday's upheaval with the heads and Steve's heroic unblocking exercise, I have decided to award him the highest accolade on 'George' a gold star next to his name on the watch rota, 5 gold stars = a lolly that he can eat on watch....TB

Chris Rhea, Dire Straits and Adele...that's more like it for the night watch last night! Personally, I did not come all the way into the north Atlantic to beat to windward, which is what we are doing now, albeit it a healthy breeze. Going a bit further west than we would like but no choice really, unless we want to go back to Africa. Hoping the wind turns one way or the other soon....MK

Meanwhile Poirot is joined by his trusty aid, Captain Timothy Hastings, into the mystery of the 'log entry and the twenty pence piece'. Hastings discovered the remnants of a sticky substance on one side of the coin but dismissed it as something unmentionable. Poirot new exactly what it was. The glue used to stick the coin to the back of a charity card leaflet, narrowing the field of suspects to someone who was also thrifty. All the time 'George' relentlessly steers into a coming storm, thanks to Mason. When all of a sudden the ever watchful Michael spots a turtles head of the stern quarter. But how did the coin get into the u bend..............to be continue JDR

Good day trying out the sextant today taking sighting at noon here. Great lesson thanks to Mason. Amazing piece of kit. MN
