Keoma - Day 1

Departed Gran Canaria great send off from the locals, who really seemed to appreciate the crew shirts and hula dancing on the foredeck! Huge warship as a committee boat and lots of spectator yachts too.  Our start at 1300, 10 mins after which a large squall hit from astern, and all scuttled for oilies, and sailed for an hour in drizzle and poor viz, but touching 11.5 kts at times.  Quickly settled into watch system, veg and pork curry for tea. (need to eat more oranges!)
Beautiful first night under our belt, dark at 6, porpoises at 3am and a drop in wind to about 5 kts by dawn, sweepstake for day’s run wide open.....
By 0830, only 2 boats now visible, all seeking a bit more breeze.
For the technical minded our position at 0800hrs on 25-11-13 is Lat 26 22.38N Long 15 34.10W.
