Morning Haze - News from the Bahamas POB (Pumpkin over board)

Hello,

The crew of Morning Haze made it!  For the young crew,  it was the first offshore passage and I am happy to report that they handled it very well!  The conditions were "bumpy" to say the least.... Even though the young ones were affected with sea sickness the first 3 days....no one ever complained.... On the fourth day, when the sun came up, the waves diminished and wind subsided to 20 knots...everybody had already forgotten about the 35 kts and the big waves in the Gulfstream.

We were in contact with Tal' Lira on our way and exchanged information on weather and sea conditions as they were ahead of us.  We appreciated these exchanges while I noticed Pauline's concerned for the family...a mother will always be a mother!  At one point, on the third day, we wre just 40 miles behind them!...they ended up gaining another 70 miles on Morning Haze during the fourth day.  When we finally got together for a glass of champagne in Tal'Lira's cockpit in Green Turtle Cay, I told Peter I confessed to him that we decided to let them win as we did not want to attrack too much attention! ;-)

This experience did bring a great sense of achievement for our family and this feeling will certainly stay with us for a long time. It also permitted us to make new friends and we appreciate every minute of it.  Now in the Bahamas, we will relax and enjoy the waters...yes yes that means NO WORK on the boat for a while!!!

Finally we hope that everyone going to the BVI had a great passage as well and we wish everyone a great cruise this winter.

PS: By the way, we did the start of the 1500 with our pumpkin on the bow and wanted to bring her along, but for mysterious reasons she jumped overboard in the Gulfstream...
