Adina - Day 1 and 2 Gib to Las Palmas

Adina left Gibraltar at 7:35am Friday. The Straits of Gibraltar proved entertaining as we tried to stay inshore and avoid the constant west to east tide. We could hear two American boats talking to each other saying they had never seen anything like it. Day 1 was light winds and upwind but come the afternoon the promised north westerlies kicked in although with less wind than expected. We took Day 1 easy getting back into the general swing of sailing. Day 2 and out came the toys. The parasailor was hoisted and helped us keep more downwind in light winds. It came down at sunset just as the wind strength increased - good timing! The seas have been lumpy overnight and on the beam which resulted in Tom's leisurely reading spot being moved with speed to the cockpit floor - bruises in place! Now we're into gybing. You keep trying to steer more downwind but your flapping sails won't let you. Rats! Day 3 has dawned and we're now two tired double-handers and it looks like a day of gybing. But good to be heading towards the ARC gathering point. 1 sighting of dolphins, 1 superyacht, 0 generator failures. Think it's a day for getting some tunes going.
