Firefly - Back on passage along the Ria Altas

We left Vivero this morning and are continuing our passage first a little North to round Cabo De Bares and Cabo Otegal. Then we head South, the wind should now be in our favour so we are planning to keep going for a couple of days. The coastline is very dramatic and beautiful helped by clear blue skies and sunshine (sorry if its still raining where you are).

It was a useful stop in Vivero with yesterday (Friday) spent working on various jobs on Firefly and getting her more sorted out in terms of stowage - every void is filled with something.

The town of Vivero was a quite lively yesterday evening and we enjoyed beers in several of the bars. The local custom in this area, called Galacia is to provide tapas in the bar, with the waiter coming around the tables every 15 minutes or so with about 3 different options for you to pick from. If you drink enough beer then you effectively get fed as well. It was very refreshing to be in a part of Spain where most people don't speak English and we had some interesting communication issues when we did try to order dinner.

Our inability to communicate was solved when we met Benjamin from Philadelphia, USA. Benny has just arrived over here to work teaching English and was something of a languages expert, fluent in Spanish and a real fan of Galacia. He insisted we try the local 'snapps' - a very sweet liquor which we think was called Yerbella - it was grape based and distinctly average!
