Rafiki - A young lad in the Atlantic

James (aged 8) writes:

This morning, Emily and I woke up to a very sunny day. When Mum woke up, she gave us our Advent Calendars as it was the 1st of December; we tried to “pinch, punch, first of the month”, but Phil got there first! In my Advent Calendar, I got a star and Emily a mince pie picture with a joke in it: “What hides in a bakery at Christmas? A mince spy!” We also set up our Crib and will put the first figure in it tomorrow.

In the morning I watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which was really good, but a little bit scary because of the werewolf, who was Professor Lupin. Every time the clock chimes midnight when it is a full moon, he turns into a werewolf, but luckily, Sirius Black was an animagus and can turn into a dog to fight the werewolf.

Sirius was killed in the fight with the werewolf, but fortunately, Harry and Hermione were able to go back in time and save him.

For lunch, I helped Andy make fishcakes using the dorado that we caught yesterday and my hands got very messy, but they tasted delicious. After lunch, we saw a yacht ahead and decided to catch it up. After an hour or so, we could see the boat more clearly and recognised her as Indulgence, the boat the our crew-member Andy sailed on to Porto Santo from Lisbon!

We got quite close, waved a lot and took pictures before going back on our separate courses. An amazing coincidence amongst so many boats and such a big ocean! After this, Phil spotted a big dolphin by the side of the boat. It was the biggest we have seen so far, but did not stay with us for long; we are certain it was a bottlenose dolphin. After this, it was soon supper time and off to bed!

Menu:

Lunch – dorado fishcakes with chilli sauce accompanied by cucumber and tomato salad.

Supper – omelettes
