Northern Child - ARC DAY 3: 29/11 (25.5N 23.5W) - written by Adolfo

Guess what ? We have just seen a Rainbow... a very special rainbow with monlight instead of sunlight. Cool or what ? Yes, there is a bit of rain here and there and we are back wiyj strong winds of 25-30+ knots which helped us beat the speed record once again, this time 21.4 knots. Well done Northern Child. ! We will changing course tomorrow to bear more southerly tack around 200-220 degrees to try to avoid a low pressure depresion developing ahead of us. We could have done that today but we missed the slot before sunset and the exercise to reset the poles, genoas and rigging requires vissibility and able hands... so we will do that after breakfast ! We are on track to have another 200+ miles day today. This would make around 600 miles in 3 days !!!! That is very quick. Hopefully as we get further south wind will calm down to 15 Knots and the swell goes back down. We need conditions to improve if we want to start fishing. Mat and I are determined to fish a big Mahi-Mahi Today was a somewhat quieter day with all of us falling into our shifts and starting to find time to do stuff we wanted to do: there was reading, watching films and even exercise Tabatas on board today. I think this is just the begining as we all get use to the challenging on/off every few hours. Food remains very good. Either Christian and Lucy are great chefs or we are sooooooo hungry that everything tastes great ! I really dont care which.... I have been so tired that even instant coffee tastes as good as my Nespresso at home (well, nearly) One of the most amazing things of being out here is how many hours you can spend without seeing anyone.... In 3 days we have only seen 3 sailboats very very far away... I now know the meaning of being in the middle of nowhere ;-)  and in 5-6 more days we will technically be in the middle... I wonder how that will feel. ... but that will have to wait. One more hour of watch, then 4 hours asleep and then at 2am back on watch for the worst possible shift between 2am and 6am. I need to make sure that our sports car driver crew member, Dietmar,  does not get to steer in the morning so we can sleep ;-) Bye for now.
