Crazy Horse - March 31

Crazy Horse is still sitting in the yard at Grenada Marine. She is looking quite good all polished up and repainted hull. They are currently putting up the antenna for the SSB that fell off during our rough passage on the Indian Ocean. Bill had a makeshift antenna that serviced us thus far. He is certainly good at improvising in his repairs. They look to be doing an excellent job here with all the proper supplies and tools.

Life on these islands just goes at a different pace than we are used to at home. We are just trying to get into the water tomorrow so we can get reprovisioned and up to Mayreau in time for the big wedding on Tuesday. We have been cleaning up on the inside and trying to preserve what is left of the food in the refrigerator.

Matt is cleaning up his cabin to make room for Anna of Basia who will be joining us until St. Lucia. That is one way to get him to clean out his cabin.

Maryann left today for home. We had a wonderful time going snorkeling, shopping, sightseeing, and tasting some of the local fish. We will miss her but she must get back to work and her grands. She says she felt very welcomed by all the World ARC participants. I thank them all for providing a warm and sincere atmosphere of friendship. I think we all feel interconnected to the friends and family that come to visit. We are all so grateful to feel the support and love from the people back home.

Ariane, Jeannius, Basia, and we are all here patiently waiting for our repairs and the final jobs to be done. Most of the fleet has moved on by now as it is free cruising until St. Lucia on April 14th. That is when we will have the first of the final parties for this rally. We are still looking forward to the grand finale. Crazy Horse will still have to sail up to the Chesapeake Bay and on to Maryland Yacht Club. We are looking forward to attending the opening weekend there the first weekend of June.

Many of the other World ARC participants will keep their boats here or further up in the Caribbean until the start of next sailing season. So many of them will truely be finished the season when April 16th comes around. So as we look forward to the future sailing aboard Crazy Horse we know that our time is getting short. There are not so many miles to travel as we had last year at this time.

We looked on the World ARC 2012/13 site last night and were excited to see all the many folks listed for the World ARC for '12-13. We remember meeting Christophe and Igmar from Flomida in our last Caribbean 1500. They are on the new list. There seems to be a good showing of people all around the world attending this next one. I am sure we will be watching and reading all the English language blogs for the next rally and remembering our adventures and vicariously enjoy hearing about them.

We are still enjoying meeting all the people on these varied islands. Grenada is certainly a friendly island. The people are all helpful and hopeful about their future. Education is very important here on the island and if you ask the kids what they want to do they say: "Go to College!"

Now back to work on Crazy Horse as we await our entrance back into the water and on to our next adventure.

Rosemary, Bill and Matt
