Helen - Day 6 - 200 Nautical Miles

As a delivery Skipper by trade the 200 Nautical Mile day, while not unheard of, is a fairly rare beast. Caution is always the watch word.

Not too long ago I was having a beer with another PYD skipper who was banging on about this panacea. I was able to answer that ' sure I have had a 200 mile day before', but what about consecutive 200 mile days ?
I have to confess that I did get a little bit giddy when the Skipper informed me, at 11am on Friday morning, that we had completed exactly 200 Nautical Miles in the previous 24 hours. The chase was on!

A full day of Champagne sailing followed on Friday, and continued into the early hours of Saturday. We had a Swedish boat in our overtaking sights ( called Cluck) until the wind dropped.

We danced around with Cluck for at least 7 hours until Philip passed her on his watch just before dawn this morning. Game on again.

We have just taken the 24 hour log and our reading is........193 Nautical Miles. Too much 'Clucking' about overnight looks to have dashed us.
A few more attempts at the double 200 left .

Aye, yours,
Paul
