Monomotapa - Monomtapa

Monday 24 November

After instructions from the race committee we left the marina at just after 09.30 we made our way to the start line together with some 20 other boats in our racing division.

The wind was from the north east and the sea state was fair, we encountered some areas of light winds to the south side of Gran Canaria.

During the night the wind speed increased to above 20 knots and the wave height increased to 4 metres. the waves on the starboard rear quarter down wind meant that we could surf down them to gain maximum speed

Tuesday 25 November

The wind and waves decreased during the night and at least the last night watch had some reasonably good sleep. We run two watches on board with three "ordinary" members. The first watch consists of David, Trevor and Giuliano. The second watch consists of Juan, Mike and Henrik. Antonella is joining the first watch if needed and Alberto he second. The watches are 07.00 to 13.00, 13.00 to 19.00, 19.00 to 23.00, 23.00 to 03.00 and 03.00 to 07.00. This means that the watches are constantly rotating. Breakfast at 07.00, lunch at 13.00 and dinner at 19.00.

Some of us have experienced some seasickness but most of us are reasonably okey by now.
