Jubilare - ARC Baltic first leg to Ronne

After a superb first crew dinner we left earlier than planned at 22.00hrs from Schilksee bound for Ronne on the Danish Island of Bornholm. To begin with sea state was short and a little uncomfortable then after a couple of hours out things settled with wind behind. Experienced a large sausage shape cloud approaching boat at speed from behind so decided to reef which we were pleased about as the wind increased from 15 to 25 kts in seconds. Saw little of the moon as it was low in the sky but three hours out from Ronne experienced the tail end of a large electrical storm followed by heavy rain .Should have put all electrical appliances such as hand held GPS into a Faraday Cage eg the oven. After some brilliant sailing arrived in Ronne at 1.30 am and berthed alongside wall.

Ronne is the quaint capital town of the island with some lovely shops and restaurants. Hollyhocks thrive here growing out of the pavements in abundance. Visited the beach and had a swim in the Baltic which was refreshing not at all bone achingly cold.

Weather although sunny wind high and gusting, boats constantly checking mooring warps.Enjoyed a fantastic BBQ on the quayside organised by the lead crew. Now looking forward to coach trip round the island.
