Firefly - Champagne Sailing

Well that's what they usually call a combination of sunshine and wind! After a night of light winds and calms when we had to use the engine to keep moving daylight arrived with a steady 15 to 18 knot wind blowing from the South East. This combined with with sunshine has kept us company all day. The morning radio net reports indicated that we with a number of other boats who decided to head further South were enjoying better winds. If we are lucky this stable wind with take us all the way to the Marquesas.

With more than 2000 miles still to sail to our next landfall it is a bit premature to be making too many plans however we have been busy reading the pilot guides. Some of the more gruesome tales are stories of cannibalism on the islands .Fortunately we will have plenty of food supplies left as peace offerings-we just hope the locals like pasta!

The fishing tackle has been brought out for a second day but sadly no bites,we are struggling without our lucky lure. A new one was purchased in the Galapagos but it hasn't performed yet. We have just had a VHF call from the team on Ghost who are sailing close by; unlike us they are reeling in the fish and suggested we start fishing earlier at sunrise so that will be the plan for tomorrow.

Paul, Peter and David.
