Calypso - End of Week One

We are now at the end of week one and our position at 1300 GMT on 1 December is 18 30 North, 24 09 West and we have logged exactly 850 miles. The last few days have been quite eventful. Very changeable weather from virtually calm with sunshine to gale force winds and cloudy yesterday. Overnight we've experienced tropical downpours with thunderstorms. We plan to call in at Mindelo, in the Cape Verdes to refuel as we have have had to do some motoring during the calms and anticipate our arrival in the morning (Monday).

We have enjoyed excellent sandwiches prepared by Phil and John but our fresh bread will soon be finished. Dino continues to prepare some fantastic dinners, despite difficult conditions. Last night was pot roast lamb. Anita's biscuits (The Little Biscuit House) are going down exceedingly well! Thank you very much, Anita.
On Friday evening, we caught and prepared our first fish which is in the fridge. We will probably eat it today.
During the early hours of Saturday, a small bird which I think was a storm petrel, landed in the cockpit. It rested for a few hours and we released it unharmed to continue its journey.
David, Dino, John and Phil
