Ula - Day 4 - 27th November

No sail changes and significant periods of motoring lead to a general sense of boredom today. Much snoozing. F2-3 veering onto the nose making southward progress impossible without the engine. Still heading for Cape Verde, (although a stop for water now not necessary). We will continue south, perhaps as far as the 10 degree latitude in order to find the trade winds.

Cabins, galley and saloon hovered after lunch, cockpit washed down and windows cleaned.

Passed close to a large weather buoy, not sure we would have spotted it as easily in the dark. 21.15.16N 20.55.45W

Staring at the 360 degree emptiness of the ocean one can understand the historical misconception of being able to “fall off the edge of the world”. For a 13 year old lad going to sea for the first time in the 16th Century the experience of a blue water crossing must have been no less a leap of faith than Neil Armstrong’s “giant leap for mankind”.
