True Colours - We think we may have seen a ripple!!!

There again, maybe not.

Position 21:32.20N 021:45.30W

After a decent wind through the early part of the night, at 05.00 it started to drop, and by 07.00 the engine was on.  Needed not only to make progress but also to generate electricity.
The sea is now glassy, with true wind showing as 1 kn, with very occasional puffs as high as 3 Kn.  So we are motoring, but do not expect enough wind to sail until about 02.00 tomorrow, and then it will be very light, maybe 6 kn – but we think we can beam reach, and follow the backing wind down until we reach an area of more substantial winds.  But we may have to start to ration fuel, electricity and water, and then food.  What happened to the winds we all expected????

On consequence is that our arrival time estimates are wildly out. MaxSea is giving an estimate of 17 December, but that is assuming an average speed of 6 kn.  We would exceed that in Trade winds, but will lose time getting to them – if indeed they exist this year.  No real concerns though, just frustrations.

Andrej did see a pod of dolphins this morning, but we were going too slowly to interest them in playing with us.  But then highlight of the day – a pod of pilot whales, probably about 10 in total.
we stopped the engine and drifted up to them, seeing them gently swimming on either side of True Colours.  Photo opportunity!  And then course resumed – heading for where we hope wind may materialise.
