Calypso - On Our Way

We had a good start and fortunately no collisions with any of the dozens of boats at the line.

It was soon necessary to don our oilskins as a squall approached and gave us a good shower! Wind was strong but, as predicted by Chris Tibbs the weather guru, we experienced some very strong gusts in the acceleration zone near the airport. We had to put several rolls in the main, and reef the genoa to cope with the gusts which exceeded 30 knots.

We enjoyed some ham and tomato baguettes prepared by Phil for lunch and, in the evening, had a delicious Chilli con Carne and rice cooked by Dino.

Later, the wind dropped and we were wallowing around making little progress during the night.

This morning, the wind has picked up and we are making progress. Cloudy but are warm 22 centigrade.

David, Dino, John and Phil.
