As there are plans to develop the yachting facilities in here Reunion there has been plenty of media attention for the event and the return of World ARC in 2010. A local TV company came down to film the boats and talked to Petra from Viva who speaks fluent French.

Local yachtsmen are also very excited about our visit, a flotilla of local boats is planning to cross the start line with us on Saturday and most evenings here in Le Port there is a constant stream of visitors on the quay asking questions about the boats. The World ARC visit is important to the people of Reunion and very few non-French tourists visit here, so crews are finding everywhere they go they are recognised as being with the rally. We are all beginning to feel like celebrities!

Apart from our media visitors the marina has been very quiet during the day, participants have been hiking, driving and motor biking in the volcanic interior to visit the breathtaking mountain views and gingerbread house villages. Some have also taken ultralite flights over the volcanoes. The arrival of the yachts was marked by a welcome reception put on by the Municipality of Le Port and tonight crews are invited to a BBQ and prize giving in the Yacht Club.
