Aislig Bheag - Log day 3 -Dancing with Dolphins

Making great progress and getting ever increasingly more competitive both within our own 3 watch teams and also with other ARC yachts after news of our position yesterday (not that its a race, of course!). Spotted our first sealife at sunset on wed evening as we were surrounded by a massive pod of  very playful dolphins putting on a fantastic show for us. Wed night was quite rough with winds gusting up to 25 n’s. First attempt at cordon bleu cooking resulted in some serious skating around the galley floor. Skipper John kindly covered Don and Eilidh’s 4-8am watch so both could sleep off the dreaded lurgy. There’s been a bit of water in the bilge that has to be pumped out once a day. More a nuisance value. After all the work to achieve a dry boat the skipper is less than happy so  ends up struggling down one of the lockers and twisting underneath the wheel to discover the rudder  stock is leaking. The options are to slow the boat down so the top  of the rudder stock is out of the water, stop the boat and try and fix the gland bobbing about on a rough sea or to continue and pump the bilge when needed. As the leak is only minor and can’t get any  worse we decide to push on.
