Club Carp - Club Carp: Dueling Objectives

Today appears to be the final day of our Carib1500 voyage. We are currently about 125nm from the finish line with an estimated time of roughly 18 hours. However, the initial race objective has been complicated by a flight departure for one of our crew members at 2pm on Wednesday out of St. Thomas. We now have to make the difficult decision of crossing the finishing line and/or heading to a new destination. The two options that appear most likely are to head straight to Sopers Hole so that our crew mate can get the first ferry to St. Thomas. Alternatively, we can sail directly to Redhook for our crew mate to get a cab across St. Thomas to the airport.

The challenge is that the winds have not aligned with the forecast, and instead of backing to the East, slightly Northeast they have clocked to the East, slightly Southeast, the worst possible angle for our current approach to Tortola. With that said, I continue to have faith in the might sailing vessel Club Carp in the amazingly capable hands of our Captain Jeff. We are pointed as close to the wind as she will go, with the sails slightly trimmed in another day of roughly 20 knots of apparent wind. As for last night, we had a wonderful garlic scampi...sorry, I meant to say shrimp scampi...but the garlic had us all brushing out teeth 5 times each this morning. We will try to be online at least one more time later today or tomorrow as we determine our next course of action. Keep your fingers crossed for us and wish us god speed.

Dog quote of the day #9: "You never have to wait for dogs. They're ready to go 24 hours a day."
