Farewell to ARC+ and Welcome to ARC!

Last night the ARC+ and ARC crews were well entertained during a shared Farewell and Welcome Party for both fleets. The City of Las Palmas hosted a fabulous event with great music, entertainment and ambiance. It was a splendid evening during which those departing with ARC+ on Sunday got to meet those of the ARC fleet who depart in two weeks’ time.

The cabaret style entertainment was mesmerizing with a number of different acts singing and dancing. It was a colourful spectacle. During the entertainment, representatives of those local organisations who support the ARC and ARC+ in Las Palmas welcomed the ARC to Las Palmas and thanked crews of the ARC+ for visiting. On the stage were: Señor Don Juan Jose Cardona, Alcalde de la ciudad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Señor Jaime Romero from the Ayuntamiento, Señor Camon who is the President of the Patronato de Turismo and  Señor Juan Francisco Martin, Commercial Director of the Autoridad Portuaria. On behalf of the crews Andrew Bishop of World Cruising Club thanks all those involved for their support to the ARC.

Saturday was the last full day of preparations. Skippers completed Rally check-out before attending the Skippers Briefing. Chris Tibbs described the weather for Leg 1 and it looks like there will be excellent conditions for tomorrow’s starts at 1245hrs and 1300hrs.
