North Point - Back in Falmouth

Better late than never – sent it to the wrong blog! Here we are again after a 500nm round trip. We managed to get some emails on Tuesday and didn’t like the look of the future weather systems. Since our plans were to return to the UK at the end of the rally we were concerned about getting back at the appropriate time. After some discussion we were both in agreement that our best option was to return to Falmouth. We had a great sail back – best of our holiday so far! We really enjoyed meeting everyone and hope you all arrive safely and enjoy the rest of the rally. Our thanks to Nick and all the team for all their help and advice (we will get the yellow brick back to you somehow – possibly by coming to Cowes). We are now in a different spot in Falmouth, Falmouth. read more...

North Point - Ready for the off again

Due to a sudden change of plan we’re leaving at lunchtime. The gales have blown through and it should be all right to go. Falmouth is lovely but we are really looking forward to some heat. I won’t have time to ring you all before we go but hopefully should be able to due some blogging on the way and definitely when we get to Bayona. So, time to start tracking us on the fleet viewer later today.. read more...

North Point - In Falmouth

Yesterday we came all the way to Falmouth rather than stopping off in Foweyas today’s forecast was poor. We motored to start with but half way the windpicked up and we had a really enjoyable sail. On the way we saw a whole schoolof porpoises swimming and jumping – very exciting! We are rafted next to CoralIV in Mylor yacht harbour where they welcomed us with an arrival drink. It is areally pretty place which looked lovely in yesterday’s sunshine. Unfortunatelywe can’t see much of it this morning as it is pouring down. We had bacon andeggs for breakfast to cheer John up. We think we might be moving into Falmouthitself this afternoon.. read more...

North Point - Change of plan

We’re still in Plymouth but hoping to go to Fowey tomorrow and Falmouth on Tuesday where we will spend a few days. We are obviously disappointed not to be on our way but relieved not to be setting out in such horrible weather. You should still be able to watch us on the fleet viewer where you will see that a few boats have decided to go to France. Will keep up our spirits in the bar later. . read more...

North Point - Ready for the off!

We’ve been to Sainsbury’s for our final shop, learned how to put up our flags and put an outline route into the chart plotter. We enjoyed the Welcome drinks and supper last night – it was good to meet lots of the other participants. We’ve also got a party tonight which will take our minds off the weather forecast for a while. We hope to be blogging on route but if the weather’s too bad you’ll have to wait until Bayona for the next instalment. They will be appearing on both web diaries while we are on the rally.. read more...
