ARC USA starts May 9th

With 3 months to go until the start from Nanny Cay 19 confirmed entries is a great number and ARC USA is showing it’s a popular choice for those yachts wanting to make their way from the Caribbean to the East coast of the USA. Many like ‘Crazy Horse’ and ‘Karina’ are returning to their home ports after a season down the islands, whilst others like ‘Merlyn of Poole’ are heading that way to explore after completing their circumnavigation with World ARC, which draws to a close a month earlier in Saint Lucia.

ARC USA will also feel much busier than the 19 boats registered as it is run alongside ARC Europe which starts on the same day, May 9th. ARC Europe now has 27 confirmed entries starting in Nanny Cay so at the start there will be a whopping 46 boats! With yachts registered from 17 different countries across both events it really is a dynamic mix of yachts and crews. Many have sailed on World Cruising Club events already, such as World ARC and ARC Caribbean 1500, and it’s always a pleasure to welcome those new yachts joining a WCC rally for the first time.

The majority of the fleet are taking the more traditional route back to the East Coast via Bermuda, a truly unique landfall. Alternatively there is also an option to take the Old Bahama Channel to the finish in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida before making your own way north from there.

There is a busy programme of events at each destination, the fleet can be followed online using the Fleet Viewer and there will be plenty of photos and stories from us, aswell as blogs from the boats while they are at sea. Keep checking back on ARC USA here and you can also follow on Facebook - don't forget to like the page!
