Time to thank the Classic Malts Selection and in particular all the staff and helpers at the Oban, Talisker and Lagavulin Distilleries for making 2008 another wonderful Cruise.

Whilst the band took a break, crews were entertained in the distillery courtyard by the Islay Gaelic Choir, singing hauntingly beautiful traditional songs unaccompanied by instruments in the puirt-a-beul or “mouth music” style of the Gaels.

Offering a safe haven and pontoon berths, Port Ellen was busy with Cruise yachts. Special transport was laid on to bring cruisers the 3 miles to the Lagavulin Distillery for the final party of the Cruise.

At Talisker cruisers had the opportunity to join a special tasting - called a nosing - given by one of our resident whisky experts. It was a great chance to learn more about how malt whisky develops and where the flavours come from.

Morenwyn, a Roamer (Edward Mellish, UK) sails up Loch Harport to the Talisker Distillery. Finally the weather had improved and the Cuillin Hills were visilble in all their glory at the head of the Loch.
