Nexus - Great start to the leg to Mauritius

It was a rainy and windy night, but the sky cleared briefly for the start of our leg to Mauritius, and we were all off sailing in good wind for the second longest leg. It was a beautiful sight again to see most of the boats sailing together for the first day out. We hung back on jib alone as American Spirit had to turn back to repair their autopilot, but they found the loose wire quickly and were on their way a couple of hours later. Since they were bringing up the rear, Brian announced that anyone they pass would owe them a beer. This concerned me greatly as we are rather fond of our beer, so aided by a full crew again, we rolled out our Gennaker in stiff winds and went from the back of the pack to the front during the first day of sailing...sorry American Spirit! The winds died off later in the evening, and many of us struggled along at 3-4kts before turning on the engine for a couple of hours, but the winds returned early this morning and we were quickly back sailing again. Fishing has been good to others, with dual Mahi Mahi reported by both Alpharatz and Ghost, but alas we've caught only Skipjack Tuna, which we are now releasing at the back of the boat as we catch them. Come on Yellowtail, Mahi, anything but Skipjack..... Good sailing so far today, we 15-20kts directly aft and rolly but small seas so far, as we expect both to pick up later in the week. So far so good! The guys on Alpharatz are keeping us on our toes, just 5 miles behind, but they are very good sailors, great company and fun to sail with so we're happy to have them nearby!
