American Spirit II - Day 171; Yes, Watered and Fueled Boat; the Ramsey Family Visits for Lunch; and Pictures Sent to Our Web Page; Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Up at 7:17 AM. Coffee. Made phone calls to US. 8:00 AM for us is 4:00 PM in the US.

Breakfast at 9:00 AM. Scrambled eggs, 'mystery' breakfast sausage (we have no idea what type of meat the sausages are made from), chilled fruit cocktail and bread.

At 9:27 AM we emptied 10 gallons of diesel from two jerry cans into the boat's fuel tank. Then when dock space became available, we motored over to a nearby dock and tied up to water the boat. Our water tank gauge was showing only 1/4 full, meaning we needed to add about 35 gallons of water; and we also filled the two 5 gallons jerry cans with water that we keep on deck. When we're in a 'polluted' anchorage, we don't use our water maker, as we don't want to put dirty water thru our filter and membrane system. We then motored over to the nearby fuel dock and took on about 60 gallons of fuel - topping off the main tank with about 5 gallons of diesel and filling the 11 jerry cans with 55 gallons of fuel. Total cost 598 Fijian dollars, or more than $250.00 US. The fuel dock was made of aluminum and very boat unfriendly. No rubber rub rails or fenders to keep from scratching your hull. Somebody wasn't thinking. We were back at the mooring ball at 11:12 AM. Joel then dingied in for a shower and shave.

At 12:30 PM we met the Ramsey family (Tim, Tracy, Brian and Lucy) for lunch. They had come from the Vuda Point Marina about a half hour north of us. They were having their repairs done there instead of at Port Denarau Marina. That marina was better suited to accommodate catamaran's than our marina. We ate at the Indian restaurant in the marina, one of the few restaurants that we hadn't eaten at in the week and a half we've been here. (Joel's not high on Indian food). They left around 3:30 PM. Joel and I then camped out at a restaurant with free Wifi and I transferred pictures from computer files to a blog file on the same computer, then labeled each one; pictures that I was going to send to the rally web site. When I was done with this process I realized that I'd wasted 3 hours of time in doing so. Long story. At any rate, we then sent 3 pictures to our rally web site. Pictures taken in Fiji. We'll check Thursday to see if they made it to the web page.

Back on the boat after the dinner hour we watched Death Wish 4 from 8:15 PM to 10:45 PM,starring Charles Bronson. OK movie. Predictable plot. Then read and bed. Looking forward to tomorrow because we're playing golf.
