Nexus - Fatu Hiva

We've stayed on Fatu Hiva at Baie Hanavave (bay of virgins) for the last three days, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Laurie and I hiked to nearly the top of the volcano yesterday and after an arduous hike, we were rewarded with a spectacular view down on the bay and village and down to the waterfall we hiked to yesterday. The views were amazing, with NEXUS looking like a postage stamp down below, and the view across the island and sea. In the evening, a woman from the village organized a fish dinner for 30 of the World ARC crews in the village hall, complete with music and traditional dancing, and it was a great evening of cultural exchange and fellowship. When they had finished, they asked if anyone wanted to reciprocate and Jane and Andrews son Alistair on the guitar, with Harry from Hebe, played a medley of Beatles songs for them. It was a great time for all, and we donated a soccer ball to the town children as we left. Today we are off to Hua Po, where there are reported to be wood carvers and a spectacular volcano to see, on our way to Nuku Hiva in the Northern Marquesas. We will stop along the way in the beautiful Hanamoenoa bay on Tahuata.
