Bula Fiji!

The World ARC fleet are coming together for the Musket Cove Rendez-vous which marks the end of a free cruising period which started in the Kingdom of Tonga. During this time, yachts have been cruising at their own pace; with some choosing to stay a few extra days in Tonga before making the 450NM passage to Fiji. In Fiji, yachts could choose where to make landfall, with part of the fleet opting to visit the northern Island of Vanua Levu first and others heading directly for the excellent repairs facilities on the western coast of the Viti Levu. Along the way to Musket Cove yachts have been experiencing many delightful islands and a friendly “Bula” welcome from every Fijian we meet.

A number of yachts have already arrived into Musket Cove with the rest of the fleet scheduled to arrive later today and tomorrow, in time for our welcome drinks hosted by the Musket Cove Yacht Club on Wednesday night. There’s an exciting program here in Musket Cove over the next few days including an afternoon of beach sports and a traditional Fijian feast.

Musket Cove is a beautiful resort on the island of Malolo LaiLai, part of the Mamanuca group of islands and is especially welcoming to visiting yachts. There is a wonderful clear water anchorage over white sands, a small marina and the famous Island Bar which has just been remodelled and is sure to be a popular with the fleet. Participants will also enjoy the beautiful pool and all the resort facilities within a wonderful tropical setting.

On Saturday 5th July, the World ARC will be departing for Tanna in Vanuatu.  However some yachts will be leaving the World ARC in Fiji to further explore the South Pacific. It will be sad to say goodbye to good friends but we look forward to hearing of their cruising adventures ahead and welcoming some of these yachts back into the World ARC fleet next year.
