MAYAG and Grenada Yacht Club Welcomes World ARC Fleet

Since arriving, the World ARC 2014-15 crews have been enjoying life in Grenada and the excellent facilities at the Port Louis Marina, Grenada. And yesterday evening, the fleet were hosted by members of the Marine and Yachting Association of Grenada (MAYAG) during a cocktail reception at the Grenada Yacht Club.

The Yacht Club’s outdoor terrace overlooking the Port Louis Marina basin was a great spot to enjoy the setting sun with a local beer or rum punch in hand. Westerhall Rum from Grenada was on hand to ensure their delicious rum punches were in a steady flow  and the FLOM (For the Love of Music) band rocked the clubhouse and entertained us all with renditions from different genres of music.

Warm welcome remarks were given by Richard McIntyre, Commodore of the Grenada Yacht Club and James Pascal, Vice President of MAYAG.  As a token of appreciation, a World ARC Flag and a framed World ARC poster were presented to the Grenada Yacht Club and MAYAG respectively.

The event was an opportunity to bring together persons from all over the world with a shared interest in yachting and hopefully new friends were made.  World Cruising Club would like to thank MAYAG for their invitation and in particular, those members who directly supported the event:  Budget Marine, Palm Tree Marine, Grenada Marine, Spice Island Marine, La Phare Bleu Marina, Island Dreams, Horizon Yacht Charters and Turbulence Rigging. Thank you all for a pleasant evening!
