Nexus - Careful what you wish for!

We've had a couple of great days sailing, with variable but good winds and frequent squalls with no power in them. Better and more consistent winds during the day, and variable, rainy winds at night. We're nearing the Amazon area and it's overcast and hazy with lots of moisture in the air. We still have Alpheratz nearby, with Ghost aft and we're slowly overtaking Saphir and Polaris who left the day before. We've been hoping for fish and working the lures hard...but be careful what you wish for. We caught very large Blue Marlin yesterday, who was well and truly hooked and slowed the boat down a bit. It jumped and pulled and sounded for about an hour, and we couldn't budge it closer to the boat. We decided to drag it for a while and waited about 30 minutes before stopping the boat and pulling it in. They can be quite dangerous so we were careful, but when we got it to the transom, it was on it's belly and not moving. We pulled it aboard and got the lure out, but it was already dead. We hung it from the Solar Panel Arch and it measured out at 96inches. We really wanted to release it, but I think we dragged it too long. We now have a freezer full of Marlin steaks and are looking for recipes, I guess you have to be careful what you wish for! We also had a visit by King Neptune and his lovely wife last night around 1am, who performed the equator crossing ceremony on young Finnbar. They left seaweed on the deck, don't know how it got here as we're in two miles of water! We have 1500nm to go and are sailing nicely today!
