Nexus - Leaving AHE for RANGIROA

After a night of solid rain, and a rousing evening of dark and stormy's and dominoes, we were greeted with a calm and partly cloudy morning. We had quite a job to get our anchor up, with our chain tangled on numerous rock and coral formations in 20M of water in the lagoon, but with some deft maneuvering and a bit of luck we retrieved it all. We motored out to the pass with Vivo and American Spirit, where we spend the early afternoon drift snorkeling through the pass in turns, while we kept our boats drifting nearby. It was fantastic snorkeling, Gin clear water with lively coral and multitudes of colorful reef fish and sharks. We made three passes through as the tide changed, first drifting in at 2kts, then out at 1.5kts on the last drift. We followed the snorkelers towing a dingy on our wrist, and re-boarded and repeated the last shift. Highly recommended! We're now very slowly sailing in company with six World ARC boats to Rangiroa to meet Scott, Chelsea, Trevor and Adrienne, and we can't wait!
