After a day sail from Horta to Terceira, rally participants had a welcome dinner hosted by the wonderful Clube Naval. The next morning, Paulo, from the Azores Tourist Board, led a walking tour of historic Angra. With the afternoon off, many people spent the next few hours checking out all of the small shops and restaurants that the city has to offer and preparing for the Bull Running later on in the evening.
The Bulls Runs in Terceira take place between the months of May and October. Homes and businesses are boarded down, and bulls are released into the streets tied to a long rope held by a group of men. Some participants such as Kenny, from Tara, and Gabriel, from Droppelmina, tested their speed as they participated in the running.
The final day on Terceira is an off day. Most people are out exploring all the island has to offer, and others are spending a lazy afternoon relaxing and recharging for the overnight sail to Ponta Delgada. We plan to set sail around 6PM tonight, and are looking forward to another island to explore tomorrow!
