Gozwoz - Day 6

Today started with the possibility that with favourable conditions we would reach Bermuda. The prospects were such that Our Great Leader permitted the last reef to be taken out of the main and the cruising chute was hoisted at 2am. Providence was initially king and for a few hours rumbles could be heard from a dark cloud nearby whose approach to Gozwoz gathered speed. The cruising chute was rapidly lowered and packed but the squall reached us as reefs were being put in the main. The wind was not unduly strong but the rain was torrential, the crew on deck, the Bosun and the Navigator, having not had time to put on oilies. In due course we were treated the sight of Rob calmly helming while clad in his pyjama shorts and an oily jacket. Unsurprisingly the only person to stay dry was the cabin boy, Roger, as she is known. As usual things were rapidly set to rights, though there is now no chance of reaching Bermuda before the early hours of tomorrow.
It appears that the entrance to St Georges, Bermuda is narrow, reminiscent of Arisaig. The Navigator has informed the crew and Our Great Leader that his duties terminate on arrival at the fairway buoy. No doubt there will be many volunteers to take his place, all talking at once.
