American Spirit II - Day 443: Our Last Full Day in Grenada; Wednesday, March 25, 2015

One year ago today:

"Day 81; Fueling Day, Dinner at Follie a Deux & Joel's Hair Length; Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Up at 5:30 AM. Reading. Follie a Deux came by at 8:00 AM and invited us to dinner at their boat tonight at 6:00 PM. Follie is a 39 foot Lagoon catamaran. They also dropped off their HUKA, a battery operated compressor used to SCUBA under the boat. Joel will use it later today to clean our boat bottom."

Up at 8:00 AM. Breakfast at 8:30 AM: bacon, eggs, potato and Mandarin oranges.

At 9:00 AM Vlado, Jeanine and I headed to the Immigration office to advise them of our 'plan of attack' in getting Jeanine off of Vlado's crew list. After the meeting I drove Jeanine to the ferry office in St. George's, where she buys a ferry ticket to Carriacou Island for tomorrow, leaving at 9:00 AM. The ticket costs 80 EC. Carriacou is an island north of Grenada about 31 miles away; and is part of the nation of Grenada. We will be going there Thursday to clear out of the country before heading to Union Island in the Grenadines to clear in. After buying the ticket we located the ferry dock, which is nowhere near the ferry ticket office and is located across from the fire department. After that we headed back to the marina and picked Joel up; then off to the phone store to add more credits or time to our local SIM cell phones. We're back in the marina by 11:00 AM.

Once back to our boat and good internet, Jeanine bought a plane ticket from St. Vincent to Miami; and we printed it on my portable printer. She needs that ticket to get into St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Her intention is to make it to St. Lucia, so she'll cancel that ticket later and buy one from St. Lucia to the US and home.

For lunch I cooked up some chicken in a can. Not the tastiest meal by far; but tolerable with BBQ sauce. Jeanine joined Joel and me for lunch.

After lunch I put all the rest of the canned provisions we'd bought the other day, in the bilge and under the V-Berth; and returned two fenders that I had bought from a local chandlery as they were too small.

At 2:25 PM we headed off to the Immigration office located in the marina to show the agent Jeanine's ferry and airline tickets. He was fine with her plan to head to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Back on the boat, I called the marina at Maginot Bay and had them reserve a car for us when we're in St. Lucia; and then booked a flight for myself when I get home, going to a high school mini-reunion in June.

Joel headed off to the pool at 3:30 PM; and I followed an hour later. Eric from Nexus joined us.

Dinner at 7:30 PM was on our boat, with Vlado, Lupo and Jeanine from Civetta II; Eric from Nexus; and Amelia from Adela joining us for pancakes (Vlado), French fries (Brian) and pizza (Eric).

At 8:30 PM the dinner party disbanded, and I went to bed around 9:30 PM as Joel stayed up and read.
