Helen - Day 16 - an engine day

We are 250 miles from the finish and it's very hot and not enough wind to sail. We have been using the engine for most of the last 24 hours, something that you are allowed to do but you pick up penalty points

The provisioning has gone very well indeed. We still have fresh fruit and salad and have not yet had the same dinner twice. We are making our own water, bread, yoghurt and have Nespresso coffee. The supply of fuel is in good shape and we are still using the same gas bottle that we started in Ipswich (ten weeks of boat use ago).

We have only had two provisioning scares. Firstly we thought that we were close to running out of toilet rolls until a spare supply was found in an unused locker. More worryingly we are down to our last 3 cans of beer! We did not over stock with beer but the thought of arriving with not a drop on board could dent my reputation!

The journey is coming to an end with that usual mixed feeling you get at the end of an excellent holiday. I will be glad to arrive but would like it to last longer.

Philip
