Lily - Chef!



Those who have just finished a long transatlantic crossing seem to have a craving for proper food. One can see them rushing to a restaurant to dig in the minute they arrived. Not so much on this yacht. We are blessed having an excellent Chef. Besides also being quite an accomplished sailor (obviously as she has now nearly crossed the Atlantic Ocean), she has been more than able to feed the Skipper and Boris, the Cat, with excellent dishes on a daily basis. Clearly she knows what it takes to keep her menfolk happy (which is by all means not a small feat …). I say it is not easy to keep producing nice big juicy steaks, fresh fruit and vegetables on a daily basis whilst being tossed around. It is quite funny (maybe not for the Chef …) to see her sliding through the kitchen whilst stirring in space (as the pan remained on the stove …) as another wave hit us broadside. Obviously, unlike the menfolk on the yacht, she has kept to her very canning plan by victualling with much foresight (very very difficult to buy any missing essential ingredient when you’re out on the ocean. I don’t believe that the coastguard is properly equipped to deal with these kind of requests …). So it is safe to say that we will not rush to a restaurant once we have arrived in St Lucia to get a decent steak. Getting a beer is another story …
