Exody - Day 4 - 12th November - Halfway !

We passed the halfway mark at about 4pm today 444 miles down, 444 miles to go and the daily rally email shows us midfleet in our class.

Early morning search and rescue radio traffic woke the offwatch - air search activity following a flare sighting by an ARC+ boat well south of our position.

Having done the fuel calcs and with two thirds of the main tank used, we were relieved to be able to sail from first thing this morning - under genny alone as the best solution derived so far for our boat in these conditions. Generally making 5 knots - not fast but adequate with a days run at 13.00 of 130, against 150 for the previous two days.

As the very dark pre-moonrise night falls, we are trucking along at nearly 6 knots under genny alone - a speed we'll need to maintain to reach Mindelo in time to change and shower for the welcome party on Saturday.

Another fairly routine day at sea:

- thinking of masterchef awards as Tony hits the galley for the first time
- more dolphin displays,
- no fishing yet as the fridge is still full of Las Palmas perishable delights (but I am sure that when the time comes Marian will fish to order - following all the counsel from her brothers, fishing tackle shops and neighbouring boats).
- one other unidentified yacht seen and one small trawler/workboat
