Hugur - day 2 and 3 , not a sound on the communicaton front SSB or WHF

Day 2. Monday

Last night we did sail to close to Gran Canaria and indeed ended up in the windshelter  and made no headway, so we turned on the engine over the night. Today we made small progress in light winds and at dawn the wind was dying out again we turned on the engine.

We have some leakage of seawater in the engineroom, that we need to monitor can be coming along the shaft .

Our guest the journalist has been seasick. So we have been double handling anyhow. But he is coming along. Now in the afternoon and offered to take my shift since he has had a good sleep today.

Otherwise slow day , sunny weather, we had pasta and chili con carne but our guest only tea and baguette.  Mostly no big apertite with the crew.

We have not heard nothing on the whf all along , so I tried to call Ayama  at 1730 and was successful, they are also close to us 3nm  and had also motored last night.

Day3 Tuesday.

Kristofer has had his weekly meeting with the team working at home over skype and all is well on that front too.

My shift started at 8, we had motored through the night, same light winds so we motor on until after lunch (salad of pasta chicken, bacon and greens with mango)

We had a big skool of dolphins hundreds of them came and swam  alongside and jumped and played with Hugur, this was just as we finished our lunch.

After this we made a trial on the spinnaker with not so good results.

Interpid Elk has been tacking our track the whole day first in front of us, the only boat we have seen,

We have listened for  SSB og WHF calls but not heard anything.

Pascall who is by the way all good an got his sealegs, he is now trying different sailsettings to make the boat move fairly so we can skip the engine.

We are now 150nm west of Mauritania and have about 510 nmiles to go.

All is well onboard Hugur,
