Free Spirit - Sunday 8th December

More from Andy...

Apparently most people think that the trade winds aren't trading this year! But what's this..? 15kts of breeze? Wow, we haven't seen that much since the storm. Even better, we have sails up and we are powering along at 7.6kts SOG. Peter's excellently repaired genoa is doing it's job! Is it some trade wind or the edge of a squall? Mmm, with the wind from the north, I'm tempted to think it's the edge of a squall. Still, we'll take what we can get and be grateful for it...

As I write, Richie is patiently waiting for a shower. Sadly no-one's told him that the rain seems to have passed us by but he is persevering by waiting calmly with his shower gel on deck. Yes it is warm enough to shower in the rain!

Dougie on the other side of me heroically went up the mast to 'save the ship' the other day. No-one's sure what he did, but he looks pleased with himself...

Carole, the culinary superstar of the trip has been typing her menus up. I've old her to publish a booklet - I'll buy a copy! 15 days at sea and we haven't even had the same meal twice either!! How she does it staggers belief.

I don't know if anyone else was given a present to bring onboard, but I was:)) You can imagine my total embarassment when Carole saw me in my cabin opening my chocolate advent calendar! She proclaimed out loud what I was doing and I was the laughing stock for quite some time. I will make a mental note to tell my lovely Jo to be more careful and try to make 'gifts' a little more appropriate:)) Not least because the 'calendar' is now metling and must be eaten in one go..!

Our guesses for an arrival date are: Richie 17th; Peter 16th; Dougie 16th; me 14th. Oh gosh, I hope I'm right. My darling Jo has found a very cheap flight for me on the 17th. The only trouble is that I have to spend hours in Trinidad (eating mangos for lunch). Then after a 14 hour flight (heaven knows where it goes) there is a 'hopefully' successful landing at Gatwick. Anyone heard of Caribbean Air or is just that my Jo doesn't love me anymore :)))

Cheers Andy...
