Great Escape of Southampton - Day 14 15 46N 49 42W

Day 14

Well, Jan’s wish for more wind came partly true.  There has been a lot more wind, 35 knots during the night, but a huge amount of rain and water.  The water came yesterday afternoon when I was dozing in one of the forward cabins.  We’d had the hatch open for ages and Graham said to watch out for rain that looked imminent.  I was doing his when, and you will have worked out the next event by now…….  Jan (aka the Mad Helmsman), managed to find a rogue wave which promptly came thought hatch and I emerged like a drowned rat.  There were some choice words exchanged and a threat to hang Jan upside down from the mast!  With a lot of rain since then, the inside of the boat now looks like a Chinese laundry.

We are still wondering if we signed up to the right trip, expecting hot sunshine by now, with only 665 miles to go.  The weather has been quite unusual for this ARC and probably will continue to be so, even at St.Lucia.

John
