Luckily I get to write the blog the day after I was given the nickname of “Texan” by Neil.  I will go easy on him since he made an absolutely fabulous meal last night.  Steak Fajitas.  Thanks Neil “Sunderland”.  I hear it’s his favorite (Texas spelling) football club.

We have cleared the rain and the temperatures continue to go up.  The red skin is being replaced by tans on all.  The bruises from gaining our sea legs also blend in better with the tan.  Several of us took our weekly shower by dumping several buckets of sea water over the head, adding soap, and then repeating to rinse.  Only a few screams.

The nights are clear now and the moonrise is later in the evening.  During last night’s watch the sky exploded with stars.  Several order of magnitude more stars than you would see on land.  After that we were treated to the moon rise which is orange and looks like a sun rise.  It’s absolutely beautiful out here.

re moonrises – Jacko had read in a book “ Do Dolphins Sleep” that if the moon looks overly large which it did, bend over look through your legs and it becomes normal size – we didn't know whether to believe him – so John tried first and it did, followed by Jacko being “Mr Cool” as he was on the helm, the Texan was heard saying “ you two are crazy “ until he and Oscar tried it and agreed it worked – NOTE to Jacko – cool points completely lost as when he tried it a second time he head butted the wheel ( that will teach him ! )

Plus we can let you all know know as AB has been told – on day two we blew the “ big bad gleeds kite “ – we have three others so not too bad and the kite is repairable once we reach the other side

At the end of our 02:00 – 05:00 watch John got a little too close to the wind and served up a nice wave of water over the bow.  Luckily the rest of us were shielded by it since Oscar had his coat and trousers open to catch most of it.  Shower number 2 for Oscar that day.

We expect to reach the half way point (mileage wise) on our journey tomorrow.  We will celebrate this milestone although the real celebration will need to wait for St. Lucia.
