The Little Drummer Boy

Firstly thanks to those who have commented on the blog posts so far. Our communications are limited, so we are posting these messages via sat phone email, which in turns appears here on the blog, with twitter and Facebook alerts to these new posts. We are receiving the comments posted back to us here directly on the site, so big thanks to Robert, Eric, Angela, Jean, Julie, Des, Helen, Kate and Suas for your words. We had an entertaining evening yesterday as John read out all the comments as we were having a sundown dinner. I can imagine it to be not to dissimilar to a scene when families would huddle around a radio listening to the BBC world service for news of the outside world.

Now, to the main Indulgence headlines of the day….

While he normally likes to keep such things secret, our skipper Aidan is celebrating his 21st birthday. It is his first time to blow out candles at sea and he was very excited this morning, donning his blue Hawaiian shirt and spotting a rainbow out his cockpit window. The crew gave him birthday cuddles and a big happy birthday song. Awwwww!

The presents were not scare either as both John and Denis had searched Gran Canaria high and low for the perfect gift. It was of course a toy drum, and little percussion bell. You may not know it but when Aidan was eighteen years old, he was the drummer in a band called Crux with Freddie White. Same drum.

Other than that, we are settling into a routine of night watch, star gazing and squall spotting. We are gybing our way along course to Saint Lucia. Fishing lines are out, salt water showers and beauty appointments at Salon Atlantico are the order of the day.

Over and out for now.
