Turbo's Tub - Oh, the Places You'll Go!

I don't know about you, but I wait patiently for the updates on the www.Carib1500.com website showing the current location of Turbo's Tub. It appears that as of the last update, they should be seeing those crystal clear waters of the Bahamas any time now. The look to be about 10 miles from entering the western end of the Bahamas. I am certain they will be happy to see land. It also looks like they will be joining up with T'ai Chi again to make their journey through the Abacos into Green Turtle Cay. I bet that Rum Punch waiting for them at the dock will be the best Rum Punch they have ever enjoyed.

I spoke to them yesterday afternoon and they sounded great. It has been a long journey and something they will not forget. They have come a long way from a crazy idea to sail 800+ miles (when we did the seminar for the Carib1500/ARC Bahamas in Annapolis, I will never forget thinking we were all crazy for even contemplating this) from home to reaching the destination. The Tub has carried them along just as it has done for many years in the Chesapeake Bay. My dad put all of his blood, sweat & tears (and not to mention $$$) into the Tub to make sure she was ready for this offshore adventure. What he has done with the Tub is simply amazing and he should be very proud. We are all very proud of him. He has a great crew on board and I am sorry that I was unable to make the passage with them. The crew overcame adversity in the first couple days as they worked hard to repair the damage caused in the Intracoastal Waterway and they should all be very proud. They were on the smallest boat in the Carib1500/ARC Bahamas battling waves, currents, winds and not to mention the Gulf Stream. Now as they approach the Bahamas, their journey is coming to an end. They should reach Green Turtle Cay late tonight/early tomorrow. They have a reservation at the Bluff House to stay tomorrow night and actually sleep in a bed on land and take a warm shower. Hutch, Mike & Michael will fly out of Marsh Harbour Thursday afternoon and be back to Norfolk on Thursday night. Will they do it again? Only time will tell.

To Captain Turbo and his crew--we are all so proud of you. This was a crazy idea less than a year ago for a sailboat that never left the Chesapeake Bay. YOU DID IT!!!!

Here are a couple quotes I have found from one of the classics of all time:

“And when you're alone there's a very good chance
you'll meet things that scare you right out of your pants
There are some, down the road between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won't want to go on.”

“Out there things can happen, and frequently do,
To people as brainy and footsy as you.
And when things start to happen, don't worry, don't stew.
Just go right along, you'll start happening too!”

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
