Moonstream was late on parade leaving Peniche, due to mechanical problems with our steering gear box. We found all bolts had worked loose and we could only fix half of them properly. Thanks to Andrew and Nick from WCC and to a local hardware store we effected a repair with cable ties and a twenty inch jubilee clip.
Leaving about three hours behind the rest of the fleet, we set sail with poled out genoa, two reefs in the main and full mizzen, blasting our way south to Oeiras in 7hrs 4 mins covering 53 nm. Brilliant sail, sunshine all the way, but without our two lovely sunny ladies who opted to check the mileage competition in Andrew and Nick's car.
