Scarlet Lady - Log Day 11: Weds 13 & Thurs 14 June - Days 5 & 6 crossing Biscay

Woke up to a fantastic sunrise over a very calm Bay of Biscay.  We were heading towards the infamous Cape Finisterre where conditions can get quite hairy.  Luck was on our side as the sun shone all day and there was very little wind, meaning the sea state was calm.

There is a shipping lane close to Finisterre and we had fun trying to make our way across it, past all the tankers.  This kept us on our toes.  We estimated that we would be arriving at Bayona at about 1 o'clock in the morning, so after lunch, we all stayed up together to enjoy the last few hours of the crossing.  The dolphins continued to accompany us.  It was like they were trying to welcome us to Spain.

The pilotage into Bayona was a bit tricky as it was night.   However, it was calm and there was no wind.  As we reached our allocated berth, Caroline from Moonstream was there to meet us and take our lines, along with Andrew from the Rally team.  Once secure on our berth, we celebrated with a few drinks before heading off for a well deserved shower.  We then waited up a couple of hours for Russ and Jaz to arrive on Enterprise and help them with their lines.

We eventually collapsed into bed exhausted but elated at about 6.30am.  We had made it!
