Sookie - SOOKIE Daily Log 4 8th May

Time for a well deserved shower fest.  We have plenty of tanked water as well as our drinking water so for the next couple of days we can splash out,
After 51 hours of constant motoring we finally managed to turn off the engine and sail albeit for only a few hours today.  During the night we monitored a huge tanker bearing down on us and passing less than a mile from our stern.  You are always wondering if they have seen you.  Today J and I repaired a few tears in the the "assymetric chute snuffer" enabling us to fly and test our raising and dropping procedures.  However the wind has once again left us and we need to motor again in order to reach Bermuda by the time Heather and Karen fly in to visit during our stopover.  The wind forecasts from this evening onwards to our destination now look very promising. Andy and I have fished all day today with not even a nibble.  When I say fished all day we have also undertaken duties and tasks during the course of the day.  Andy has never been so long without alcohol since he can remember.  There are beers available but he doesn't want to be the first one to cave.  With the promise of a change in the winds I have just noticed on the radar something that looks like a squall 14 miles off our starboard bow.  Looks like we will miss that one but where there is one there are normally others.  Good time to give the wet weather gear a good rinsing.
Tea is now being prepared and it is time to peel some spuds and the squall is now 13 miles away.
