Aniara II - May 6

6 May

Aniara has now been on her way for 24 hours and we are still best friends onboard. Nothing special has happened so far, our most concern is when the wind will come. We just stopped Aniara for a swim in the Atlantic, 27 degrees in the water and a depth of more than 5000 meters.

Right now the wind is blowing 3 knots (1,5 m/s) from NE. The heading to Bermuda is straight north.  During our 24 hours at sea we have been motoring for almost 14 hours.  We had quite a good wind for some hours in the late evening and night. The remaining distance to Bermuda is almost 700 NM, and we have sailed/motored roughly 150 NM since start.

We have visual contact with a couple of our fellow boats but we believe that the major part of the fleet is behind us somewhere.  Still no sight of dolphins and no fish are caught yet, but better times are coming. On today’s menu we find a fruit salad for lunch and a fish á lá Aniara for dinner.
