Samsara - A rainy day....but we saw a lot

April 27

Yesterday was our around the island tour, unfortunately it rained pretty much all day, but we still enjoyed seeing all of the sights. We saw one of the many waterfalls in Tahiti. It rains a lot at times (usually not now - it's not currently the rainy season) and when it rains the normal waterfalls are even more spectacular and a lot of temporary waterfalls form during the rains, we could see many of these in the mountains as we made our way around the island. We went to the Gauguin museum, some botanical gardens, a museum on the history of Tahiti, an open air temple, and generally enjoyed the day even though we were often soaked!

Lee has gone off to the boat to work today, the girls and I went to the store close to the hotel and got some baguettes for breakfast and lunch along with a few other items and made it back just before it started raining again. Hopefully it doesn't rain all day today.  If it does we can spend the bulk of the day working on math lessons (you can imagine how excited Sam and Sarah are at that prospect!)

We're hoping the boat will be ready to put back in the water next Friday but we're not sure if any work was done yesterday with the rain....so I expect an update from Lee later today. We also have to order the rigging part for the top of the shroud from the US  - it's not available here.

Hopefully we'll get everything done and be able to explore some of the other islands - there's a lot to see on the various islands and we'd like to explore before the May 16 start from Bora Bora.

The girls are currently watching Scooby Doo (in French - which of course they don't understand but it doesn't seem to matter) and once that's over it's on to math lessons.
