BRIZO - 16 April 2012

It is 0700 Monday morning and we are 14 miles from the Marina Taina at Tahiti. Tahiti is a very large island! We have been in a slow-motion approach for over seven hours since first seeing the lights of its main city Papeete from 40 miles away. We never had much wind on this leg and since we are experiencing problems with our main engine (we believe fuel starvation caused by a clogged filter for which we do not have a spare) we have only been able to travel at an average speed of 4 kts. At this speed we hope to be tied up to our slip by noon today

Tahiti is the capital of French Polynesia. We understand that there is much to see here and plan to spend at least two weeks. This is also a center for yacht services, probably the best between Panama and Australia. We are hopeful of having virtually all of our remaining boat projects completed while we are here, especially since our French-made boat should feel very much at home!
